The seniors age group over 50 is becoming increasingly important for companies and travel agencies in Germany. According to research by Gfk, approximately 55% of total expenditure on holidays by Germans in 2015 came from travelers in this age group.
Other interesting findings include:
- Family travel by families with one child increased last year by 12%
- The number of people traveling alone increased by 10%
- Journeys of young adults from 20-34 years increased by 15%.
- Travelers aged 50-64 years and over 65 years of age increased by 7%.
- 1 in 2 trips involved organized vacation packages. Dynamic holidays also increased by 18%.
- Beach holidays had a 35% share of total sales. Educational trips and tours represented a 20% share in sales.
- City breaks increased in 2015 by 8%.
- Mmountain holiday and wellness trips were selected by fewer Germans last year.
