Thessaloniki, Nafplio and Athens are the three top choices of Greeks for the long weekend of Greek Independence Day on March 25, according to trivago hotel price search engine data.
In the same spirit as last year, Greek travelers’ preferences seem to be scattered throughout the entire country with only a small percentage travelling abroad.
The three top cities are the same as last year, only trading places with each other.
Thessaloniki came first this year, while last year ranked a place lower. Nafplion occupies the second spot, losing last year’s top place. The remaining top five spots are filled by Athens, Ioannina and Kastoria with Pelion ranking sixth followed by Volos, Hydra, Rome and Patras, according to the following charts:
