Last minute reservations was the principal characteristic of this year for tourists from the UK, Germany, France, Italy, Spain and Ireland, according to a Trivago survey.
The survey concluded that this year early bookings and in depth sales declined throughout Europe and dense booking was recorded in the period from late July to mid-August across 6 countries.
Tourists of Great Britain and Ireland sought more intensely their vacation choices during the last week of July, while the French and the Italians began a serious search of leisure options during the second week of August.
It is noteworthy that in all six countries tourists chose their vacation time on Mondays, with the British doing this chiefly between 8-9 pm and Spaniards and Italians between 10-11 pm.
The British choose hotels with prices around 150 pounds per night while the Spaniards prefer cheaper hotels at prices around 96 pounds per night.
Most tourists from these six countries elect short vacations of no more than four days.
Regarding accommodation type, British, Irish and Germans prefer hotels, Spaniards apartments, Italians bed and breakfast, French holiday homes.
The British, Irish, French and Germans also prefer hotels near the city center, while Spanish and Italians near the coast.
Within their own countries, tourists are opting for short breaks mostly in the nation’s capital, with the Spanish and Italians going after summer resorts.
At hotels, the British, French and Irish place special emphasis on free WiFi, the French and Germans seek for spa on the site, and the Spaniards often ask for jacuzzi.
