Shortly before her departure from Dubai, where she represented Greece at the Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 exhibition – one of the most important international tourism events – the President of the Hellenic National Tourism Organization, Angela Gerekou, shared her thoughts and conclusions from her participation.
As she emphasizes, her experience at the exhibition went beyond the limits of professional interest, as, through dozens of meetings and meaningful conversations with tourism representatives from around the world, she confirmed once again a key pillar of global tourism communication:
“Tourism is not just an economic activity — it is an act of culture, peace and mutual respect”, she notes characteristically.
In a time of crises and divisions, Gerekou points out that the “Hospitality Economy” can and should function as a bridge of connection and mutual understanding between people. “I deeply believe that tourism is the Force for Good,” she emphasizes, calling on all those involved in tourism to approach the future with vision, consistency, and responsibility.
At the same time, she sends a clear message about Greece’s role in the global tourism landscape:
“Greece has a lot to offer — not only as a destination, but as an experience that speaks to the hearts of visitors.”
Concluding, she reminds us that tourism is not just about statistical figures and economic results, but above all about human relationships, values ??and authentic hospitality. “This is the future we want to build: a future based on true connection, respect, culture and real Well-Being,” she concludes.
