The creation of a Destination Management Organization (DMO) in the Region of Central Greece is on track for implementation, with the aim of strengthening the development tourism policy and establishing an integrated model of sustainable and digitally mature management of the tourism product.
The establishment of the DMO is part of a modern approach to holistic destination management, with an emphasis on scientific and technical support for the Region, both in strategic planning and in the practical implementation of development interventions. The aim is to connect the tourism sector with new digital technologies, enhance competitiveness and activate synergies between the entities that make up the regional tourism ecosystem.
Using modern digital data collection and analysis tools, the Organization will evaluate the available and potential tourism resources of the region, identify needs and development prospects, and provide guidelines for the formation of quality and innovative tourism products. At the same time, it will contribute to the preparation and implementation of a comprehensive tourism promotion plan, oriented towards the principles of the digital age, without advertising individual business interests.
The DMO will function as a strategic interface between the Region and the public and private tourism entities involved. Its main responsibilities include:
The scientific and technical support of the Region of Central Greece for the planning, implementation and evaluation of its development and tourism policy.
Guidance in the production and standardization of quality tourism services and products, with respect for the identity of each region.
The recording, mapping and recording of the Region’s tourism stock, through specialized digital applications.
The support of cooperative clusters for the promotion and promotion of thematic forms of tourism (e.g. cultural, agrotourism, gastronomic).
The organization and implementation of networking and consultation actions with the local community and professional bodies, in order to ensure inclusiveness and alignment of strategic goals.
Particular emphasis is placed on the fact that the new body will not have a commercial character. Its online presence and tools will provide neutral and open content, without the possibility of reservations, product sales or promotion of specific businesses. As clarified, the goal is the objective and equal promotion of the destination, in its entirety, without exclusions or discriminatory treatment.
The DMO of the Region of Central Greece aspires to function as a stable mechanism for supporting, monitoring and coordinating tourism at a regional level, incorporating best European practices. Its establishment is aligned with the modern directions of national and European tourism policy, emphasizing sustainability, digital transition and the resilience of the sector to the challenges of the times.
This is a developmental intersection, which aspires to establish a new model of cooperation, knowledge utilization and strategic guidance, with the ultimate goal of gradually transforming Central Greece into a model of modern and balanced tourism management.
