American and Delta Airlines to resume services from Athens to the United States

Ioanna Papadopoulou, AIA, Director Communications & Marketing, on the occasion of the new service, stated:

The American Airlines’ operation on the Athens – Philadelphia route is highly significant and of strategic importance to our airport; on the one hand, it caters for the increased passenger demand to / from the USA and, at the same time, it offers significant opportunities for connections to a huge number of destinations in the American continent and elsewhere, thus, further enhancing the connectivity of Athens.

2015 was an all-time high record for us, with the highest passenger numbers since our beginning of operations. With foreign visitors up by 26% and the USA market growing at double-digit rates, American Airlines, a world leader airline, is a key-player and a significant contributor to this growth. We remain committed to continue cooperating closely with our airline partner, supporting its developmental efforts and plans for further expansion and growth in the Athens market“.
