Traffic in Athens Airport fell 60.4% during August

Passenger traffic in Athens International Airport “Eleftherios Venizelos” fell 60.4 percent in August, compared with the same period last year, totaling 1.2 million passengers, due to the impact of the coronavirus on traveling, the airport said in a report on Thursday, according to ANA.

During the period January-August, traffic at the airport reached the level of 6 million passengers, recording a fall of 65.3 pct compared to 2019 due to the effects of the pandemic during the period March-August.

In terms of the number of flights during the first eight months of 2020, these amounted to 77,584, recording a decrease of 49.7 pct compared to 2019 due to flight cancellations during the period March-August. Domestic flights decreased by 44.2 pct and international flights by 53.8 pct.
