SKY Express | Vienna-Athens flights carried out four times a week

SKY Express launched direct flights between Vienna and Athens on December 3rd. The flights will operate 4 times a week, year-round, with a modern Airbus A320neo aircraft.

The addition of this route resulted from the growing demand for travel between Austria and Greece.

Athens, along with its historical landmarks such as the Acropolis and the Parthenon, also boasts a vibrant cultural scene, modern shopping areas and a vibrant nightlife. From its central location, Athens also serves as a gateway to the picturesque islands of Greece, making it an ideal destination for Austrian travelers.
Vienna, famous for its elegant architecture and charming Christmas markets, remains a winter favorite among Greek visitors.
Flights on this new route are scheduled every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday. Departure times vary slightly, with morning and evening flights tailored to suit both leisure and business travelers. The state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo used for these flights offers a quieter and more environmentally friendly travel experience, in line with SKY Express’s commitment to sustainable aviation.

The first flight was officially inaugurated on December 3rd by Ioannis Grylos, owner of SKY Express, and Julian J?ger, co-CEO and COO of Vienna Airport.

Julian J?ger said at the inauguration ceremony:

“Good morning SKY express! Greece is one of the most popular travel destinations for Austrians and the new direct connection to Athens expands our flight offer to this region. Athens is the gateway to Greece’s rich history and culture as well as its picturesque islands. At the same time, we benefit from the growing demand from Greece, as Vienna is a popular destination, especially in the winter months. We are delighted to welcome SKY Express as a new partner at Vienna Airport and to create new opportunities for travelers together.”

Ioannis Grylos said:

“We are proud to launch this direct connection between Athens and Vienna. This new route reflects our commitment to providing high-quality travel options all year round with the newest fleet in Greece. Austrian travelers now have the opportunity to explore not only the history and beauty of Athens but also benefit from seamless connections to the country’s largest domestic network.

At the same time, Greek passengers can enjoy a direct flight at convenient times to Vienna, a city known for its elegance and rich history. This addition to our international network meets the growing needs of our passengers and strengthens the ties between our two countries. We are excited to join forces with Vienna Airport to offer travelers even more convenience, quality, and choices.”
