Eurowings launches new tour operator in Germany – aiming to reach top-10

The German airline Eurowings, a subsidiary of Lufthansa, has founded its own tour operator. The operator, called “Eurowings Holidays”, is scheduled to start operating on April 1, 2025.

This was announced by the airline on Wednesday morning, February 12, 2025.

With this move, Eurowings wants to offer the group’s more than 20 million passengers not only flights but also complete travel packages with hotels, transfers, and rental cars. The case of Easyjet in the British market is a model, as this group has been successfully selling holiday packages for years.

The new German travel agent is trying to attract customers by giving “maximum flexibility in holiday planning” to travelers as an incentive. That means low booking deposits, free rebooking, and cancellations without penalty. The offer will also include organized tours from Lufthansa subsidiary Discover Airlines for departures from Frankfurt and intercontinental routes.

Aiming for the top 10 of German tour operators

Eurowings CEO Jens Bischof aims to establish Eurowings Holidays in the top ten German tour operators in the near future.

To start with, the company will use staff and IT systems from the HLX group of tourism entrepreneur Karlheinz K?gel from Baden-Baden. Of the approximately 100 employees, more than 50 come from K?gels Binoli GmbH. Mr. K?gel’s group has already implemented similar projects with other airlines in the past. The entrepreneur created, among others, “Airberlin Holidays”, “Lufthansa Holidays” and “Condor Holidays” – which combined flights with hotels to offer holiday packages.

Lufthansa Holidays, which was created by the Lufthansa Group, was abolished after the approval decision of the Executive Board in the autumn of 2024.
