Air Albania strengthens its presence in Greece, Turkey, Italy, Switzerland, and Austria

Air Albania, the national airline of Albania, has expanded its route network from Tirana, due to the return of two aircraft to its fleet, offering three weekly flights to Geneva and two to Vienna.

The network expansion is part of Air Albania’s growth strategy, which seeks to expand its international connections and open up new markets. The inclusion of the two cities in Air Albania’s flight schedule is an important step for the company, as both Geneva and Vienna are key hubs in the European aviation sector and offer good connections to other destinations.

This will therefore significantly improve the quality of Albania’s air connections to the international flight network. According to news sources, Air Albania will expand its routes to Italy, which is its main market, increasing its flights in general, while strengthening its presence in Turkey and Greece. Air Albania was founded in 2018 and is a collaboration between the Governments of Albania and Turkey.

Tourism is one of the main sectors of the Albanian economy and has been in continuous development in recent years given the constantly increasing arrivals from abroad and the upgrading of the country as an international destination.

The most popular tourist area, especially during the summer months, is the so-called “Albanian Riviera”, which is located on the borders of Vlora county. There are notable beach resorts, such as Saranda, Eskamili, Drymades, and Himara, as well as sights of significant ecological and historical value, such as Lake Narta, the Logara National Par,k and the Butrint National Park, which is simultaneously protected as a cultural heritage monument by UNESCO, as well as a wetland.

It should also be noted that in recent years, Albania has seen the development of new forms of tourism (e.g. agrotourism, ecotourism, gastronomics, luxury, etc.) that are aimed at people who are interested not only in holidays in the traditional sense (e.g. summer holidays), but also want to get to know the country and its traditions more broadly.
