Passenger traffic increased by 14.3% in the first two months of 2025, compared to the corresponding period of 2024. at the 24 airports managed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA). It is recalled that the 24 airports are: Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupoli, Limnos, Astypalaia, Ioannina, Chios, Kozani, Kastoria, Karpathos, Kythira, Milos, Skyros, Nea Anchialos, Paros, Syros, Araxos, Naxos, Kalymnos, Ikaria, Kastelorizo, Kasos, Leros, Sitia.
Specifically, according to the statistics: the total number of passengers (arrivals and departures of international and domestic passengers) in January-February 2025 amounted to 426,755 passengers, compared to 373,518 passengers in 2024.
February 2025: “Nikos Kazantzakis” recorded a +30% increase in passengers
The state airport of Heraklion, Crete, served 125,133 passengers in February, i.e. an increase of 30% compared to last year, where 96,267 passengers were served for the same month. At the same time, the most significant percentage increases in passenger traffic at the airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority in February 2025 compared to 2024 were recorded at Chios Airport +12.2%, and at Kasos Airport +6.5%.
A 6.1% increase in passenger traffic and a 3.2% increase in aircraft movements are recorded in the statistics for January-February 2025 for the 39 airports
A 6.1% increase is also recorded in passenger traffic for the first two months of 2025 at all airports in the country where commercial flights are carried out (39 airports: 24 CAA, 14 FRAPORT GREECE, AIA). Specifically, passenger traffic in the period January-February 2025 reached 5,322,218, compared to 5,018,004 passengers in the corresponding period of 2024.
Regarding the number of aircraft movements (arrivals and departures of domestic and international aircraft) for the first two months of 2025, at all 39 airports in the country, whose air traffic control is mainly exercised by the Hellenic Aviation Authority, an increase of 3.2% was recorded compared to 2024. Specifically, in total, in the period January-February 2025, 46,900 flights were carried out, compared to 45,464 flights in the first two months of 2024.
