With almost 4,000 flights scheduled for the Easter weekend, Wizz Air, which operates flights to 10 airports in Greece and connects the country with more than 20 destinations abroad, is launching its new “Medical Awareness” campaign with the aim of ensuring that passengers are fit to travel and enjoy a smooth and safe journey.
In recent years, medical incidents during flights have shown an increasing trend across the aviation industry. Wizz Air’s initiative focuses on key advice and reminders for travellers, especially those with chronic conditions, pregnant women, and passengers recovering from medical procedures. The aim is to prevent such incidents and enhance the safety of everyone during travel.
“As we recently announced, as part of our Customer First Compass program, we remain committed to ensuring that all passengers reach their destination safely and comfortably. By raising awareness ahead of the Easter peak, we can prevent incidents during the flight and ensure that everyone is ready to arrive on time to enjoy the holidays with their loved ones,” said Martyna Dybek, Wizz Air Ambassador.
Wizz Air’s Useful Tips for Fit to Fly
? Find out when a medical certificate of fitness to fly (Fit-to-Fly) is required – If you have recently undergone surgery or are in advanced pregnancy (over 28 weeks), a medical certificate may be required – check before you travel.
? Keep your essentials with you – Place medication and essential travel documents in your hand luggage so that they are easily accessible throughout your trip.
? Dress comfortably – Choose loose, lightweight clothing that “breathes.” On longer flights, tights or compression socks can help improve blood circulation.
? Stay hydrated and active – Drink water frequently and get up to walk around the cabin, where possible. These habits reduce your risk of blood clots (DVT).
? Don’t forget your medications – Set reminders on your phone to take your medications on time, especially when traveling across time zones.
? Wear a mask if you have symptoms – If you feel unwell, such as a runny nose or cough, wear a mask to protect yourself and your fellow passengers.
? Get enough rest during the flight – A neck pillow, sleep mask, or noise-canceling headphones can improve your sleep quality in flight.
Please note that Wizz Air’s trained cabin crew is ready to provide assistance in the event of a medical emergency during your flight. However, travelers are responsible for their own medical care and transportation should their flight be diverted for medical reasons, making travel insurance essential.
