With a special event at Larnaca International Airport, “Glaucos Clerides”, AEGEAN, in collaboration with Hermes Airports, celebrated the launch of the new direct Larnaca – Rome connection. The new route, which operates every Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday for the entire summer season of 2025, strengthens the connectivity of Cyprus with the Italian capital, via the “Leonardo Da Vinci – Fiumicino” International Airport.
The first flight departed with high occupancy rates, reflecting the demand and travel interest for this new connection. According to AEGEAN, there is an intention to maintain the route during the winter season, offering passengers more options for traveling to the heart of Europe.
The event was attended by passengers of the first flight, travel agents, representatives of tourism institutions, AEGEAN and Hermes Airports partners, as well as journalists, who were informed about the importance of the new connection.
The new flight to Rome is part of AEGEAN’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in the Cypriot market. With investments reaching a capacity increase of 22% compared to 2024, the company offers a total of 1.4 million seats to and from Cyprus in 2025.
The island’s connectivity is significantly enhanced not only through new destinations but also by the frequency of flights to Athens (up to 7 daily) and Thessaloniki (up to 11 weekly), as well as by the restart of the Larnaca – Tel Aviv route with up to 2 direct flights per day.
AEGEAN confirms its strategic role in connecting Cyprus with important European and regional destinations, offering reliable, high-quality services and expanding travel opportunities for passengers and tourism professionals.
