New direct flights to Heraklion from Poland with SkyUp Airlines

A significant boost in the arrivals of Poles in Crete is expected to be provided by the direct flights of the Ukrainian airline SkyUp Airlines, which start today, May 27, 2025, from Warsaw to Heraklion. Flights from Katowice to Heraklion will follow on June 1.

In particular, SkyUp Airlines, as part of its expansion in Central and Eastern Europe, is launching flights twice a week (Tuesday and Saturday) from both Warsaw and Katowice to Heraklion, with prices starting from 73 euros. At the same time, new flights to Larnaca and Burgas are also being launched, offering flexible options for summer getaways in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Strengthening the Poland-Crete connection

The addition of Heraklion to SkyUp’s network further strengthens Crete’s connectivity with the important Polish market, which in recent years has shown a continuous upward trend in inbound tourism to Greece. Direct access from two major Polish urban centers enables more travelers to discover the natural beauties, culture, and gastronomy of Crete.

According to SkyUp Airlines CEO, Dmytro Sieroukhov, the launch of routes from Poland is “an important step in strengthening our presence in Europe”, emphasizing that the new direct flights offer more choices to travelers from Central Europe and the western regions of Ukraine.

Affordable prices and flexible benefits

The company promotes its policy of “smart travel”, offering competitive packages, without intermediate stops, and with less hassle for the passenger. The basic Fly&Smile package includes 23 kg of checked baggage, 9 kg of hand luggage, the ability to choose your seat, as well as flexible departure date changes at a low cost.

In addition, SkyUp offers an escort service for minor children (5–12 years old), a pet-friendly policy, and the ability to order SkyBox meals for passengers who want a more gourmet experience in flight.

The accessibility of Chopin (Warsaw) and Pyrzowice (Katowice) airports is particularly high, thanks to the connection to rail and road networks, significantly facilitating travelers from Poland and neighboring countries.

SkyUp’s dynamic expansion in Europe

SkyUp’s entry into the Polish market follows its successful operations in Moldova, from where it has already launched flights to Spain, Portugal, Cyprus, France, and Greece. In June, the company plans new routes from Chisinau to Berlin, Stockholm, and Prague.

In 2024, SkyUp recorded a 61.6% increase in passenger numbers, serving a total of 2.5 million travelers. Its growth is attributed to the strategic choice of secondary airports, the flexibility of the fleet, and attractive prices, which allow it to compete effectively in the rapidly growing low-cost transport sector.
