The dynamic strengthening of Santorini’s tourist connection with the international market is marked by the launch of AEGEAN Airlines’ new direct route connecting the island with Istanbul. The new flight is expected to contribute substantially to the further promotion of Santorini, attracting visitors from a market of high interest and strengthening the island’s position on the map of top global destinations.
The presentation of the connection took place on Tuesday, May 27, at an event co-organized by AEGEAN and Fraport Greece at the Santo Wines conference venue, with the participation of representatives of the local government, the business world, and tourism.
The event was attended by the Board of Directors of the Santorini Hoteliers Association, headed by President Antonis Pagonis, Vice President Andreas Patiniotis, Secretary Margarita Karamolegou, Treasurer Renos Chitis, and Member George Dimitrokalis.
The President of AEGEAN, Eftychis Vassilakis, presented the new initiative, emphasizing that its goal is to strengthen the island’s connectivity with important international destinations and create new prospects for tourism development.
The members of the Hoteliers Association thanked AEGEAN for its continued support for Santorini’s tourism and expressed their optimism that the new connection will have a positive impact on visitor numbers and the local economy.
