The first half of FY 2025 (compared to the corresponding half of 2024) closed with a 7.5% increase in passengers at the 24 airports managed by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
Overall, at the country’s 39 airports, a 5.2% increase in passenger traffic and 3.8% in aircraft movements was recorded during the period January-June 2025.

Passenger traffic at the 24 airports managed by the Hellenic Aviation Authority (Heraklion, Kalamata, Alexandroupoli, Limnos, Astypalaia, Ioannina, Chios, Kozani, Kastoria, Karpathos, Kythira, Milos, Skyros, Nea Anchialos, Paros, Syros, Araxos, Naxos, Kalymnos, Ikaria, Kastelorizo, Kasos, Leros, Sitia) increased by 7.5% in the first half of 2025, compared to the corresponding period of 2024.
Specifically, according to the statistics, the total number of passengers (arrivals and international and domestic passenger departures) January-June 2025 amounted to 4,489,469 passengers, compared to 4,176,486 passengers in 2024.
June 2025: Heraklion Airport “Nikos Kazantzakis” served almost 1.4 million passengers
The state airport of Heraklion, Crete, served 1,396,137 passengers in June this year, i.e. an increase of 6% compared to the same month last year. At the same time, the most significant percentage increases in passenger traffic at the airports managed by the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority in June 2025, compared to 2024, were recorded at Syros airport +112.8% (3,254 passengers in 2025 – 1,529 passengers in 2024), at Nea Anchialos airport +51% (6,362 passengers in 2025 – 4,213 passengers in 2024), and at Naxos airport +36.9% (38,676 passengers in 2025 – 28,246 passengers in 2024).

A 5.2% increase also occurs in passenger traffic for the first half of the year 2025 at all airports in the country where commercial flights are carried out (39 airports: 24 HCAA, 14 FRAPORT GREECE, AIA). Specifically, passenger traffic in the period January-June 2025 reached 32,350,859, compared to 30,738,558 passengers in the corresponding period of 2024.
Regarding the number of aircraft movements (arrivals and departures of domestic and international aircraft) for the first half of 2025, at all 39 airports in the country, whose air traffic control is mainly exercised by the Hellenic Aviation Authority, an increase of 3.8% was recorded compared to 2024. Specifically, in total, in the period January-June 2025, 253,851 flights were carried out, compared to 244,634 flights in the first half of 2024.
