French Transavia invests in Thessaloniki during the winter season

The airline Transavia, a subsidiary of the Air France Group, has decided to expand its activity to Thessaloniki during the winter season of 2025, doubling the seats offered.

The French company already operates five flights per week to Thessaloniki during the summer season and is adding two (2) flights per week to Thessaloniki for the first time during the winter season, between November 2025 – March 2026.

Transavia is one of the most popular air carriers in the French market and at the same time a key partner in strengthening the tourist flow to Greece. The company’s consistent strategy to strengthen its presence in the Greek market is reflected in the increased flight capacity for 2025, which amounts to 1,387,460 available seats, an increase of 3.32% compared to 2024.

Transavia’s top Greek destinations include Athens, Crete, Santorini, Corfu and Mykonos. At the same time, in 2025 the company is significantly strengthening its network from Paris Orly Airport with direct flights to Corfu, Chania, Heraklion, Skiathos, Kos, Rhodes, Kalamata, Thessaloniki, Kefalonia, Aktio (Preveza) and Zakynthos. In addition, connections to Greek destinations are also offered from other major French urban centers, such as Nantes, Lyon, Marseille and Montpellier.

A. Fiorentinos: GNTO boosts demand for winter tourism in Greece

GNTO maintains a long-term and effective collaboration with Transavia, jointly implementing co-advertising programs, aiming to strengthen our country’s connectivity with strategic foreign markets, as well as promoting alternative, sustainable and thematic forms of tourism, which enhance the extension of the tourist season and attract higher-spending visitors.

On the occasion of the expansion of Transavia’s flight operations to Thessaloniki, the Secretary General of GNTO, Andreas Fiorentinos, stated:

“GNTO systematically collaborates with airlines and tour operators, in order to boost demand for holidays in Greece and increase our country’s share in key foreign markets. We have consistently invested in promoting Thessaloniki as an ideal city break destination and continue to work methodically, leveraging our global network of partners. In this context, we are already coordinating with the Greek National Tourist Office France to organize a special fam/press trip, which will further enhance the visibility of Thessaloniki in the French market and support the successful implementation of the expansion of flights during the winter season.”

Transavia’s decision is yet another confirmation of the Greek National Tourist Office’s strategy for the sustainable enhancement of the Greek tourism product throughout the year.
