Wizz Air to fully return to Israel from September – Tel Aviv from August 8

Wizz Air has announced the full restoration of its flight operations to Israel, with the restart of the first flights to Tel Aviv starting from August 8. The low-cost carrier plans to restore a total of 24 routes from 11 countries by mid-September.

In the first phase, the airline will operate 10 routes from 8 countries, including the United Kingdom. Flights to Israel had been suspended due to the deteriorating geopolitical situation in the Middle East.

The company’s decision was announced at the same time as the release of passenger traffic data for July, according to which Wizz Air carried 6.35 million passengers, an increase of 6.8% year-on-year.

Despite the overall increase in passenger traffic and an increase in available capacity by 7.9%, the load factor decreased by one percentage point to 92.8%. The company attributes this decrease to the instability in the Middle East and the delayed integration of alternative flights planned after the cancellations to Tel Aviv.

The return to Israel also marks a strategic realignment for Wizz Air, which recently announced the closure of its subsidiary in Abu Dhabi from 1 September. From now on, the company will focus on strengthening its core markets in Eastern and Central Europe.

In this context, Wizz Air plans to open a new base at Warsaw Modlin Airport in December 2025, initially with two Airbus A321neo aircraft. At the same time, it will also increase its fleet at its bases in Krakow, Katowice and Skopje by adding additional aircraft of the same type.

The return of flights to Tel Aviv may contribute significantly to Israel’s tourism traffic, especially in view of the autumn season, but also strengthen Wizz Air’s presence in a strategically important market for the Europe-Middle East connection.
