Air Canada: Flight cancellations on Tuesday due to strike

The impact of the cabin crew strike continues for Air Canada, with a large part of its flight operations still suspended today, Tuesday, August 19, 2025. The airline announced that all Air Canada and Air Canada Rouge flights have been canceled until this afternoon (local time). On the contrary, connections operated through partners Air Canada Express, Jazz Aviation and Pal Airlines are operating as usual.

This is the first strike action by the company’s flight attendants since 1985. The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), the union representing cabin crew, has so far ignored the court order demanding an end to the strike, insisting on continuing negotiations with the employer to conclude a new collective labor agreement.

The strike began last Saturday, forcing Canada’s national carrier to ground its entire flight schedule. The company estimates that the cancellations have affected about 500,000 passengers to date, causing significant disruption to travel plans within and outside Canada.

Air Canada management has not yet announced when it expects its network to fully resume operations, while negotiations with the union are ongoing.
