Emirates | New Crew Training Centre marks aviation milestone

Emirates announced the start of operation of the new, ultra-modern crew training center, which aligns with the strategic development of the airline. The center will provide training to existing and future pilots, with focus on the fleet of Airbus A350 and the upcoming Boeing 777X.

The specially designed and technologically advanced center, which covers an area of 5,885 sq.m., hosts six full flight simulator cabins. Strategically located near other training facilities of Emirates in Dubai, the center constitutes part of a strong and dynamic aviation hub that promotes the personal and professional development of the employees.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, stated:
“The new Emirates Crew Training Center constitutes a milestone for the industry and plays a decisive role both in the ecosystem of air transport and in the promotion of Dubai into a global aviation hub. Our strategic investment already delivers substantial results. The center sets new standards and constitutes a point of reference in aviation training, strengthening our programs and the preparation for the fleet of the future. Above all, our pilots and trainers have expressed extremely positive comments about the new facility.”

The pilots of Emirates have every reason to be excited with the new training center. The flight simulators are fully integrated with the innovative Pilot Support Station (PSS), a pioneering technology that was designed entirely by Emirates – and constitutes a first for the industry.

Before each training session, the pilots can configure the cockpit and create their own flight plan in a fully immersive environment, using specially designed devices. The simplification of the preparation allows better assimilation of knowledge and the maximum utilization of the training experience. The sessions are recorded entirely, giving the possibility to the trainers to replay specific moments, thus enhancing the evaluation of performance and the learning process.

The center also possesses advanced 3D printing capabilities, allowing the construction of complex parts and structures that support the training equipment throughout the Emirates facility. This technology delivers impressive savings.

The center has already started the training of pilots with two full flight simulators type A350, while four more, including simulators for the Boeing 777X, are expected to be incorporated within the next two years.

Each simulator possesses the capability to provide up to 7,500 training hours annually, covering up to 1,000 pilots. When the center operates fully, the pilots of Emirates will have access to 17 simulators, of which 11 are dedicated to training on A380 and Boeing 777. In total, the training capacity of Emirates in all its facilities will increase by 54%, offering 130,000 training hours annually to its pilot community.

The first full flight simulator A350 of Emirates received certification Level D, the highest possible grade for this type of simulator, from the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA). Furthermore, it is the first worldwide that meets the latest Airbus A350 Standard 1.3, obtaining certification without any observation — yet another rare achievement.

The pilots of Emirates complete demanding training programs based on evidence and skills, under the guidance of highly qualified trainers. The new Crew Training Center also possesses four spacious classrooms for the conducting of retraining, transition, and captain training courses.

Beyond the Emirates Crew Training Center, the airline offers a series of world-class training and development programs for its staff but also for other professionals of the aviation industry. Other facilities in Dubai include the Emirates Flight Training Academy for cadet pilots, the Emirates Aviation University, the Emirates Cabin Crew Training Center, and the Emirates Aviation College, which offer hundreds of specialized, technical, and developmental skill programs for the company’s employees and the broader aviation community.

Emirates is in rapid course of development and seeks pilots for its three programs – Direct Entry Captains, Accelerated Command, and First Officers non-type rated. Those who wish to become members of the largest international and most profitable airline company in the world, with the largest fleets of A380 and Boeing 777, are invited to apply here.
