Tourism: +2.6% passenger traffic at 14 regional airports in 9 months

Passenger traffic at the 14 Regional airports managed by Fraport Greece increased by 2.8% in September 2025, with the total of the 9 months standing at +2.6%.

In September, passenger traffic stood at 5.47 million, with a 3.% increase in international traffic (4.6 million) and +1% in domestic traffic (830,900). For the 9 months, respectively, total passenger traffic amounted to 31.78 million compared to 30.96 in the 9 months of 2024, with a 3.3% increase in international traffic (25.7 million) and unchanged domestic traffic (6 million).

The largest increases in September were recorded in Aktio (+8%, to 161,400), Thessaloniki (+7.9%, to 836,300), Corfu (+7.8%, to 777,200), Kavala (+7.8%, to 54,000) and Skiathos (+6.1%, to 114,000). In contrast, passenger traffic closed down at the airports of Santorini (-15.2%, to 360,000) and, to a lesser extent, Mykonos (-3.2%, to 244,500).

In the 9 months, the most significant increases in passenger traffic were observed in Thessaloniki (+7.7%, to 6.1 million), Kavala (+7.2%, to 281,100), Skiathos (+6.5%, to 618,400) and Aktio (+6%, to 816,900). Mykonos also fell in the 9 months with losses of 15.9% and passenger traffic of 2 million, while traffic in Mykonos was almost stable compared to last year (-1.3%, to 1.47 million).

In terms of arrivals recorded in September from foreign countries, the lion’s share was held by the United Kingdom (586,167) and Germany (406,360). The top ten is completed by Poland with 173,972 arrivals, Italy with 135,687, the Netherlands with 96,250, Austria with 73,210, the Czech Republic with 70,105, Sweden with 70,281, France with 65,952 and Israel with 66,947.
