Fraport Greece: 8 airports suspended for works

As part of the project of further multi-level upgrading of regional airports and having already completed the third construction period, Fraport Greece, the management and operation body of the 14 regional airports in Greece, will proceed with the fourth phase of individual works at them.

Specifically, the dates for the suspension of runway operations, per airport, are presented in the Table below:

It is noted that, during the above periods, any emergency flights (airlifts, search and rescue flights, firefighting, humanitarian, state and other national flights), will be possible to be carried out by helicopters, while all airport services will be provided normally.

The above works aim to further enhance the already high level of runway safety and include, among others, extensive interventions to reform the lateral safety zones (Runway Strips) and the runway end safety areas (RESA).

These works are part of the Concession Agreement. They are carried out in terms of sustainability and respect for each location, since supporting sustainable development and social responsibility are basic principles of Fraport Greece.

The interruption of the runway operation is absolutely necessary, due to the size and complexity of the projects, and the planning of the works has been done so that the intervals of suspension of the runway operation are as short as possible.

Regulatory compliance and safety, at all levels, are key priorities of the company. It is worth noting that these specific works are part of a broader plan to further upgrade the already high level of safety and operation of the regional airports managed by Fraport Greece. As mentioned above, they are related to large-scale projects carried out by the company, within the framework of financing from the Recovery and Resilience Fund.

In this context, the company calls on the passenger public to take into account the planned periods of suspension of operations when planning their upcoming trips.
