SKY express continues to expand its activities at an unabated pace, recording a significant increase in its financial figures and expanding its international footprint.
SKY express now serves 27 international destinations, with recent additions such as Athens to Hamburg, Lyon and Tel Aviv, Thessaloniki to D?sseldorf and Heraklion to Tirana. This strategy of expansion abroad is a central axis of the company’s development, as according to the management, the strengthening of the international network is expected to be immediately reflected in the figures for 2025. The main goal is the stabilization and commercial exploitation of existing routes and the parallel development of new destinations.
The new direct connection Thessaloniki-Dusseldorf is a typical example of this strategy. The route is operated with state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo and A321neo aircraft, three times a week, offering enhanced connectivity between Northern Greece and Central Europe. As SKY express’s Chief Commercial Officer, Gerasimos Skaltsas, emphasized, Thessaloniki is a strategic hub for the company, with available seats for 2026 expected to reach one million.
Investments in fleet and sustainability
As part of its strategy for sustainable development, SKY express has strengthened its fleet with 10 Airbus A320neo aircraft and two Airbus A321neo aircraft, equipped with CFM LEAP-1A engines, achieving significant fuel savings and reduction of CO? emissions. At the same time, the company is gradually introducing sustainable aviation fuels (SAF) and participating in Emissions Trading and Offsetting Schemes such as EU ETS, UK ETS and CORSIA. The average age of the neo fleet is only 3.8 years, which enhances operational efficiency and energy efficiency.
Financial figures and financial stability
According to the company’s latest figures for 2024, SKY express’s revenues amounted to 478 million euros, recording an increase of 22% compared to 2023, mainly due to the double-digit increase in passenger traffic on the international network. Passenger traffic to international destinations showed an impressive increase of 31%, further reinforcing the company’s image of growth and extroversion.
The company’s operating expenses for 2024 amounted to 451 million euros, increased by 22% mainly due to the expansion of the flight network. Net results before taxes amounted to 27 million euros, recording an increase of 14%, while net profits after taxes amounted to 21.5 million euros, with an increase of 7% compared to 2023. The management points out that the company is not at risk of liquidity, services its existing borrowing and has open lines of credit for any temporary financing.
At the same time, the Aviareps group, which consolidates the figures of SKY express together with subsidiaries such as Swissport Aviapers, Skyserv, SKY express Academy and ASH Properties & Credit, recorded a turnover of 626.86 million euros in 2024, increased by 18.47% from 529.13 million euros in 2023, while net profits after taxes amounted to 94.8 million euros.
The future of SKY express
With the new aircraft and the strengthening of the international network, SKY express aims to maintain high load factors (73.2% in 2024) and to further develop international flights, which already represent 54% of total flight revenues. The company’s stable presence in international markets, investment in sustainability and strategic fleet development are expected to be reflected in new financial records for 2025, making SKY express a key pillar of the Greek aviation market and an important factor in international connectivity.
