What to do this week (Noember 25 to December 3)

“Dreams” – Golden Bear in Berlin

Teenage Johanne experiences life from a distance, choosing the safe side of observation, until her French teacher upends her certainties, triggering passion, friendship, and deep inner exploration. Through Johanne’s diary, truth and imagination blend, while relationships across three generations reveal contradictions and social issues. With elegance reminiscent of Éric Rohmer, the film balances dramatic intensity with subtlety, illuminating the characters’ emotions, desires, and questions. Its non-linear narrative and shifting perspectives create a rich, cinematically captivating work, which won the Golden Bear at the Berlin Film Festival. Now in theaters.

Painting Exhibition – Minas “Without Coherence”

The new solo exhibition of Minas Semertzian (Minas), titled “Without Coherence,” opens at the Artworx gallery in Kifisia. The exhibition presents a series of works created in recent years, in which the artist experiments with new ways of deconstructing the image, emphasizing painting as autonomy and as a source of emotional resonance. Minas manipulates materials and gives himself fully to the creative process, without rules or thematic cohesion, aiming to surprise even himself. Each work comments on itself, avoids representation, and invites the viewer to participate actively in the visual experience. The exhibition highlights evolution through the old and presents painting as a journey without an Ithaca, where the essence of art remains unknown, unexplored, and enchantingly open to personal interpretation. Duration: November 25 – December 16, 2025 | Artworx, Kifisia

Sunday Roast at Vezené

Sunday Roast at Vezené, one of the most beloved traditions of Athenian gastronomy, returns on Sunday, November 30. The wood-fired oven and grill of Vezené once again host the classic Sunday Roast pies, slow-cooked cuts of meat, and comfort dishes reminiscent of a home-cooked Sunday meal, all bearing the signature of Aris Vezenes’ team. From hearty pies and roasted goat with potatoes to juicy beef cheeks with thick pasta and special cuts of meat, the menu is designed for sharing. The experience is complemented by a curated list of Greek wines and signature cocktails, crafted exclusively for Sunday afternoons: from bright whites and aromatic rosés to full-bodied reds. It is the perfect opportunity to relax, linger at the table, and reconnect with food, friends, and the moment. (Reservations: reservations@vezene.gr

It is a landmark performance of contemporary Greek theatre, presenting real-life stories of everyday people through testimonies of elderly individuals from across the country, spanning from the Asia Minor Catastrophe to the first pandemic lockdown. With new cast members and added stories, the production offers an alternative narration of history, giving voice to those overlooked by official sources. The play has been performed internationally, translated into five languages, and awarded multiple times, while this year’s staging is accompanied by the gripping “Gate of Hell.” Text and Direction: Yiannis Kalavrianos | Cast: Maria Konstantá, Giannis Mastrogiannis, Zoi Mylona, Dimitra Onoufriadou, Vasilis Tsalikis
