SKY Express: New Athens–Lyon route launched

SKY express inaugurated the new direct Athens–Lyon route on Monday, December 15, further strengthening its presence in the French market and expanding its international footprint. The route operates year-round twice weekly, every Monday and Friday, using the state-of-the-art Airbus A320neo and Airbus A321neo aircraft.

With the addition of this direct connection, SKY express now operates year-round direct flights from Athens to Paris and Lyon. During the summer season in recent years, the airline has also consistently operated direct flights from Heraklion to Lille, Nantes, Marseille and Lyon. Through this expanded connectivity, SKY express contributes to the growth of tourism and business flows between Greece and France, offering passengers more high-quality travel options.

The launch of the route marks the completion of the integration of six new destinations (Hamburg, Berlin, Lyon, Lisbon, Madrid and Tel Aviv), bringing the total number of international destinations served to 27, confirming the company’s strategy for dynamic and targeted international growth.

At the same time, SKY express serves the largest domestic network in Greece, with 33 domestic destinations, ensuring reliable connectivity across the country.

On the occasion of the inaugural flight, SKY express Director France, Mr. Jean Brajon, stated: “We are particularly pleased with the direct Athens–Lyon flight. This new connection marks an important step in strengthening Franco–Greek relations, responding to the continuously growing demand for travel between the two countries. From today and throughout the year, we look forward to welcoming an increasing number of passengers from Lyon to Athens and, from there, to SKY express’s extensive domestic network, reaffirming our strategic commitment to offering high-quality connectivity to our passengers.”
