Storm Katie hit Britain with winds of up to 105mph, cancelling and diverting dozens of flights.
Flights arriving at Gatwick Airport had to be diverted due to high winds and some major roads were closed overnight because of the stormy conditions.
According to FlightAware, 31 flights have been cancelled at Heathrow Airport. More than 20 Gatwick-bound flights had to be diverted to other airports.
Many early morning arrivals at Heathrow have been diverted, with British Airways flights from Johannesburg landing at Shannon in Ireland and Glasgow.
Flood warnings
In UK, at least 2,000 homes are without power and 23 flood warnings are in place.
Again, according to FlightAware, EasyJet has cancelled 8 flights.
There are 94 delayed flights at Heathrow, and 74 at Gatwick.
EasyJet said in a statement:
“Many of our aircraft had to divert to other airports across the UK, as a result of this a number of our aircraft are not in London Gatwick for this morning.”
“Our operations team have made multiple changes to our flying programme in order to limit the disruption to our flights this morning, however we advise all passengers to refer back to flight tracker for the latest information.”
