Anonymous has posted a video warning that they will do “all that is necessary” to stop those responsible for Thursday’s truck attack in Nice, France, which killed at least 84 people.
The hacker group, known for its cyber-attacks against controversial organisations and individuals, has previously vowed war on terrorist group Islamic State for its co-ordinated attacks elsewhere in the country, including the November 2015 Paris attacks.
It is not clear whether Thursday’s incident was a terror attack, although French president Francois Hollande has spoken of its “undeniable terrorist nature”.
In the video, an announcer wearing an Anonynous Guy Fawkes mask says: “to defend our values and our freedom, we’re tracking down members of the terrorist group responsible for these attacks. We will not give up”.
