NBA star ‘escapes’ from Turkey to Rhodes amid military coup

NBA Nets’ star Bojan Bogdanovic was on vacation with his girlfriend in Bordum (Halicarnassos), on the Ionian coast of Turkey, during the failed military coup attempt. The NBA star was caught up in the serious political turmoil and managed to ‘escape’ to the nearby Greek island of Rhodes.

As Greek portal sportfm.gr reports, Bogdanovic and his girlfriend were on vacations in the Turkish Bodrum Peninsula, near the ancient Greek city of Halicarnassus. Like many on holiday in the vicinity, Bogdanovic was looking to flee to safer ground, and the 6-foot-7 Croatian apparently had a leg up on his fellow tourists. According to the report, his agent and George Gkotzogiannis, the manager of Greek League team Colossus, arranged for transportation by boat to the Greek island of Rhodes, roughly an hour from where Bogdanovic and his girlfriend were staying.
