Swimmer injured after jumping off rock at Cavo Greco in Cyprus

A swimmer is being treated for serious injuries after jumping off a rock at the Cavo Greco sea caves on Sunday, reported SigmaLive Greek.

Upon receiving the call, authorities activated the island’s national search and rescue plan ‘NEARCHOS’ sending a police boat to try and save the individual.

A helicopter, accompanied with a specialised doctor, and a team from the Fire Services, were also put on standby during the rescue operation.

The injured individual was positioned dangerously on a steep rock after their fall, thus making rescue by sea impossible.

Upon seeing that the rescue boat was unable to save the individual, the Famagusta Fire Department took over the rescue operation saving the injured person with an ambulance taking the person to Famagusta General Hospital for further treatment.
