Suspect sentenced to life in prison for Ayia Napa shooting

Charalambos Andreou has been sentenced to life in prison and Sotira Neophytou has received a five-month prison sentence for the quadruple murder in Ayia Napa in June 2016, Sigma TV reported from the scene. 

The two suspects were sentenced by the Permanent Larnaca-Famagusta Assize Court on Monday. 

Andreou was also sentenced to five years in prison for the attempted murder of the individuals injured in the restaurant shooting. The court has also issued a 12-year sentence for the planning of the murders of Alexis Mavromichalis, a local businessman, and two other individuals. 

In relation to Neophytou, the court has issued a five-month prison sentence, which started on 27/6 when she was arrested. 

Neophytou was only sentenced for five months as she was only charged for being an accomplice to a crime. 

Andreou, 32, had admitted to 20 charges on the indictment, which included committing a murder in Ayia Napa, along with Aleks Burelli (the main suspect) and Yani Vogli (assailant killed in the shooting). 

The victims of the murder were local businessman Fanos Kalopsidiotis and the couple Elias and Skevi Hadjiefthymiou
