The Red Army entered Auschwitz liberating 7500 prisoners. The date was January 27th 1945 and in the following days 200 of the prisoners died, regardless of the medical assistance provided by the allied forces.
The Auschwitz concentration camp was built at Himmler’s orders and it was the biggest of its kind, 40km² in total. More than 1,3 million people were sent there and 1,1 million lost their lives there, others were gassed, others shot, others hanged and others starved to death.
