China ends lockdown in most of Hubei after two months

Chinese authorities have ended the two-month-long lockdown of most of Hubei province, travelmole.com reports.

The city of Wuhan, which was ground zero for the coronavirus, will stay locked down until April 8.

Authorities are confident the worst is over with just a handful of new infections for over a week.

Most new cases are imported from overseas, authorities insist.

Wuhan reported one new confirmed case on Monday following five consecutive days with no new infections.

Nevertheless, other cities including Shanghai will continue to impose quarantines on new visitors entering the cities.

Hubei province accounted for the majority of coronavirus cases in China with 67,801 and 3,160 deaths.
