The announcement by Washington of the imposition of sanctions on the purchase by Ankara of the Russian S-400 missiles raises the tension in the relations between Turkey and the USA, int.ert.gr reports.
The sanctions are against the chief of the Defense Industry Directorate of the Turkish Presidency Ismail Demir and three other employees, as announced by the US Treasury Department.
They include freezing assets and travel visa restrictions as well as the ban of issuance of export licenses and authorizations by the US to the Turkish Defense Industry SSB.
Turkey condemned the sanctions as a “disastrous mistake” and claimed it would retaliate.
The Greek Minister of Foreign Affairs expressed the satisfaction of Greece for the imposition of US sanctions.
