Secretary General of Greek National Tourism Organization in Tarpon Springs, Florida

The Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization, Andreas Fiorentinos, visited Tarpon Springs, the Greek fishing village in Florida, USA, known as the “sponge capital of the world”.

Mr. Fiorentinos participated, at the invitation of the local Orthodox diocese, in the celebration of the Epiphany, which was officiated by Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, while the Deputy Minister of Shipping and Insular Policy, Stefanos Ghikas, and the Secretary General of Hellenism Abroad, Maira Myrogianni, were also present.

During his visit to the region, Mr. Fiorentinos had the opportunity to take part in the religious and cultural events of the local Greek community, meet representatives of the Greek diaspora, and speak on the Greek diaspora television station “The Voice of the Greeks”.

Furthermore, in a special ceremony held at the city hall, he received the Key of the City from its mayor, Panagiotis Koulias. During their meeting, both the Secretary General of the Greek National Tourism Organization and the mayor expressed their intention for closer cooperation between the two sides in order to promote common tourism goals, while Mr. Fiorentinos invited Mr. Koulias to visit Athens.
