Europe’s second-largest tourism group released improved results for the April – June third quarter, presented double-digit sales growth for this summer, and predicted that Condor would return to profit this year.
Thomas Cook noted group-wide bookings for summer 2017 are 11% ahead of last year with average selling prices up by 1%, as of July 22, with 82% of capacity sold.
“Our early actions to expand our holiday offering to a wider range of destinations this summer are paying off, with good volume growth across most destinations, in particular to Greece, Cyprus and Bulgaria,” the company stressed. All three destinations have strong double-digit increases: Greece (+22%), Bulgaria (+19%) and Cyprus (+14%)
“We have also seen significant growth to Turkey since our last update, as customers are attracted by the quality and value of the destination,” Cook added but did not disclose any overall booking trend figure for the destination. Bookings to Spain are broadly in line with last year, reflecting a very competitive market and a strong comparative period, as highlighted previously, the company added.
