Final operation week for Athens Chocolate Factory and Museum

Next Friday, February 19  the Chocolate Factory and Museum organised by TIF – HELEXPO will close its extremely successful, Athenian circle.

After its enormous success in Thessaloniki, the Chocolate Factory and Museum opened its gates at the exhibition centre of Helexpo Maroussi in Athens urging the public to give in to the temptation of chocolate.

The first theme park for chocolate in Greece covers 3,500 sq.m. and promises to take visitors on a tour in the wonderful world of chocolate; the tour starts from the Museum which includes information about the cocoa tree and its fruit as well as the remains of an Aztec temple. It continues in the Jungle (where, with a little help of technology, visitors can experience the tropical climate) and then in the Amazon Hut.

Chocolate fans can then go to the ION Chocolate Laboratory, to the Papadopoulou Biscuit Laboratory and to a small farm, the Dairy Laboratory. In the Quality Control section and the Chemistry Lab “the magician” scientist displays a striking, “chocolate” experiment.

Travel back in time

The Time Machine, the playful Labyrinth, gives visitors the chance to travel back in time to places and eras where chocolate and cocoa also travelled over time. What follows next is the “big secret”, the biggest and most plummy Chocolate Waterfall in Europe with 1200 litres of real, melted chocolate!

In the Education Room details and information for proper brushing and oral hygiene are presented in a very entertaining way. As chocolate connects to art as well, in the Choco Art area there are sculptures, paintings, artwork and comics either made of or about chocolate.

There are also numerous Photo spots for those interested in taking pictures and making this visit an unforgettable one!

In the Caramel laboratory, guests can watch the making of handmade “fresh” candy.

Those who feel “thirsty” can enjoy a chocolate drink in the Chocolaterie by adding in the real, melted chocolate the ingredients they prefer!

Enjoy the Chocolate Factory and Museum with all your senses and discover the delicious secrets of chocolate!

The Chocolate Factory and Museum is held under the auspices of the Greek National Tourism Organisation, the Attica Region and the Municipality of Maroussi.
