Refugee Food Festival is coming to restaurants in Athens and Mytilene island

The Refugee Food Festival is coming again this year to Athens offering the public a different culinary project. From 19 to 24 June 2018, six restaurants in Athens and one in Mytilene island in support of refugee protection, will invite chef refugees living in Greece to their kitchens.

The chefs, four women and two men, cook one or more times in the same restaurant and add their own touch to the menu by introducing new dishes and flavors. They suggest their own menus or prepare dishes along with the restaurant’s chef.

The Refugee Food Festival is an annual event, aiming to alter views on the refugee status, foster socio-professional integration through food and mobilize civil society by getting citizens together, around the dinner table, universal place of peace and equality.

The festival will also be held at 13 other cities around the world: Paris, Lille, Marseille, Bordeaux, Strasbourg, Lyon, Brussels, Madrid, Amsterdam, Bologna, San Francisco, New York and Cape Town. It is organized by Food Sweet Food and the UN High Commissioner for Refugees, as well as by citizens of each participating country who have devoted their time in bringing it to their city.
