Kythera will be at the center of gastronomic interest on Monday, July 28, 2025, with a thematic educational action dedicated to the interconnection of knowledge, production, and local development. At 7:30 pm, the Fratsia Conference Center will host a dynamic workshop focusing on Kythera Honey, on an island where the beekeeping tradition is an integral element of its cultural identity.
The action is part of the inter-regional cooperation project “TASTES OF GREEKS ELECTORS II – Greek Gastronomic Culture”, and is implemented within the framework of the LEADER/CLLD 2014-2020 Program. It is organized by the Network of Municipalities of the Attica Islands Regional Economic Region, the Municipality of Kythera and the Kythera Foundation for Culture and Development (KIPA), in collaboration with the FoodOxys IKE spin-off.
Tourism meets agri-food
This initiative aims to strengthen the gastronomic identity of Kythera, highlighting the quality of local honey as a lever for culture, local entrepreneurship and sustainable tourism development. At the same time, it promotes cooperation between scientific bodies and producers, encouraging the implementation of innovative practices “from the land to the plate”.
Who is it aimed at
The action is aimed at producers of honey and local products, businesses in the primary sector, hospitality and tourism professionals, educational and development bodies. Starting from the intangible cultural heritage of beekeeping in Kythira, the workshop highlights the stories of local producers and the added value of the local product in the tourist experience.
