Kokkinos Nero is one of the oldest settlements in the area, according to findings from excavations by the archaeological service and is truly a special combination of mountain and sea.

The name of the village is due to the thermal spring with red water that gushes in the area. The carbonated water owes its color to mineral salts and is considered to have therapeutic properties.

It is noted that the effects of the thermal springs for the area are very important and attract many tourists from Greece and abroad every year.

The homonymous beach consists of two separate coasts. On the north side, the beach is approximately 500 meters long and is paved with pebbles, while on the opposite side, the beach has a rich sandy beach one kilometer long.

It is worth noting that Kokkino Nero is a magnet for thousands of tourists, especially from Poland and the Czech Republic, where it has become a popular vacation spot.

A little further up from Kokkino Nero, on the road to the village of Karitsa, is the famous Kalypso Gorge, which creates a rich natural setting with three waterfalls and towering beech trees. This route is considered one of the most beautiful routes in Kissavos. Among other things, many alternative tourism activities are organized in the Kalypso Gorge.
