The Kalymnos Municipal Council gave the green light to the proposal of the company CHALIKOS S.A. for the installation of a projector within the surrounding area of the Analeia Luxury Hotel, in the Armeos area. This initiative provides for the projection of thematic images on a selected part of the mountain, focusing on climbing and the traditional culture of the island.
The installation of the projector, according to the company’s proposal, aims to enhance the cultural identity of Kalymnos through high-quality projections that will be carried out exclusively on special occasions, such as tourist conferences, festive events and climbing events. The content of the projections will concern exclusively the history, traditions and climbing activity of the island, without commercial use or promotion of the business.
This initiative, which is a personal vision of Mr. Ioannis Halikos, owner of the company, is inspired by international practices of cultural heritage presentation and is based on the use of cutting-edge technology. As noted, the projector will have a precise direction and time control system, without sound pollution or aesthetic disturbance, while its installation will be done with absolute respect for the natural landscape.
For the implementation of the project, HALIKOS S.A. is collaborating with the company 3D Mapping, known for its specialization in thematic visual projections in archaeological sites, natural landscapes and historical buildings, both in Greece and abroad. Among its projects is the thematic projection in the Hellenic Parliament, which is carried out with impressive results a few times a year.
The company declares its willingness to work closely with the competent services of the Municipality to determine the thematic content of the screenings, with examples such as the start and end of the Climbing Festival, as well as other moments that are symbolic for the island.
This specific action is part of a broader framework of initiatives to promote Kalymnos as a cultural and thematic tourist destination, focusing on climbing as a key element of identity, but also on the promotion of local history and tradition through modern forms of storytelling.
