On the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos organizes on Friday, September 26, 2025 the “6th Cretan Street Food Festival”, a now established celebration dedicated to Cretan gastronomy, wine tasting and local products.
This year’s event has as its central theme “Cretan nutrition through modern recipes” and is dedicated to the memory of the late Spyros Kokotos, an emblematic personality of Greek tourism who, with his vision, contributed decisively to the qualitative upgrade of the country’s tourism offer.
The event, which supports and highlights the agri-food heritage of Crete, will host participation from hotels and restaurants in the region, winemakers, local product producers, cheesemakers, local associations and schools.
New section: “Tastes of Mirabello”
For the first time, the program is enriched with a Young Chefs’ Culinary Competition, in which students, cultural associations, women’s associations and pupils will take part, on the theme “Tastes of Mirabello”.
The competition is held in collaboration with the Agri-Food Partnership of the Region of Crete and the Chefs’ Club of Crete, while the awarded recipes will form the basis for new local dishes that will be included in the culinary proposals of Mirabello restaurants, accompanied by the name of their creator.
With the aim of strengthening gastronomic tourism and highlighting local identity, the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos invites professionals and organizations to register their participation, present their products and flavors, and share with the public the stories behind their creations.
