Until September 11, northern Chios is transforming into an international center of strategic thinking and creativity, as the global final of the board strategy game championship “Conquest” is being held on Giosonas beach. The event, which began on September 7, is being held for the second consecutive year on the island, by the Greek company Para Bellum Games, honoring the birthplace of its founder, Stavros Chalkias.
This year’s edition is entitled “Road to Chios” and has been preceded by a series of presentations and events around the world. Players from the USA, Canada, Germany, Poland, Italy, Spain, Australia and Singapore are already on the island, accompanied by friends and partners, in order to compete in the grand final.
The institution is implemented in co-organization with the Tourism Office and the Department of Development & Entrepreneurship, Shipping & Tourism of the Municipality of Chios, which have undertaken the support and promotion of the event, with the aim of highlighting the natural beauty, culture and history of Chios to international visitors.
This is an important initiative with multiple benefits: on the one hand, it strengthens the local economy through spending on accommodation, catering, entertainment and transportation, on the other hand, it promotes Chios as a destination of sporting, cultural and tourist interest. At the same time, the exchange of experiences and ideas between participants and locals contributes to intercultural connection.
It is worth noting that in last year’s games, Chios also won the hearts, with participation from the United States, France, Scotland, Poland, Singapore and Australia.
