At the corner of Panormou and Riankour Streets, just a few steps from the metro station, a new Taco Bell is set to open this December. The Panormou location, larger than the Halandri store, marks the final opening for the chain in 2025.
The choice of Panormou is strategic: the area boasts vibrant nightlife, a young, student-heavy crowd, and easy metro access—ideal for a Tex-Mex fast-food brand aiming to become a neighborhood hotspot.
Taco Bell officially returned to Greece on September 3, 2025, with the first new outlet in Halandri serving tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. A few weeks later, the chain opened its second location at The Mall Athens in Marousi on October 24, 2025, marking its first presence inside a major shopping center in Greece.
Food Plus’s expansion plan for 2026 includes 2–3 additional locations exclusively in Athens, with a five-year goal of reaching 15 Taco Bell stores in the Greek market.

Food Plus S.A.B.E., a long-standing player in Greek foodservice, is already familiar with operating major franchise brands such as KFC, Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, and Habit Burger. The company first introduced Pizza Hut to Greece in the late 1980s; although this attempt ended during the economic crisis with the brand leaving in 2020, KFC became a key growth driver. From 8 outlets in 2019, the KFC network now operates 21–22 locations across Athens, Thessaloniki, Patras, and Larisa, with a focus on drive-thru services.
In 2023, Food Plus reported a turnover of €42 million, a growth of over 50% from 2022, profits of around €2.1 million, and employment for more than 650 staff members.
The new Taco Bell expansion represents the company’s effort to build a second growth pillar, leveraging the success of KFC. Taco Bell first entered Athens in 2010 at the Athens Metro Mall under the management of the Cypriot PHC Group, but exited the market in 2012 due to the economic downturn. Fifteen years later, the brand returns to a very different environment: delivery platforms like efood and Wolt have transformed dining habits, and consumers now prioritize value, speed, and recognizable brands.
