STR: Athens Hotels occupancy -8,9%

Athens hotel occupancy fell by 8.9%, in October 2015 compared to the same month of 2014 and reached 70.1%, according to STR Global monthly bulletin.

STR data record a slight decrease of 1.1% in the average price per room night index (ADR), which stands at 113.31 euros, lower than the European average (117.78 million), while revenue per available room (RevPAR) appears decreased by 9.9% to 79.48 euros, well below the European average (89.58 euros).

Different forms of accommodation

Given the + 25.1% increase in international air arrivals in Athens that Greek Tourism Confederation (SETE) recorded for the third quarter, STR Global analysts estimate that this increase did not translate into hotel bookings since guests chose different forms of accommodation in the Greek capital.

On a European level, hotel occupancy rose by 2.5% in October and reached 76.1%. The average price per night increased by 6.5% to 117.78 euros and revenue per available room rose 9.2% to 89.58 euros.
