More than half of Britons have stolen items from a hotel during a holiday abroad – and one in seven has been caught red-handed, according to express.co.uk.
Most commonly items are towels, soft furnishings and cutlery – but light bulbs and bedding have been nicked.
Nearly one in three polled by travel website sunshine.co.uk had taken towels.
Eighteen per cent lifted cutlery, crockery or glassware, 12 per cent took home hotel slippers and nine per cent a robe or dressing gown.
Eight per cent stole light bulbs, four per cent bedding and two per cent ornaments such as a vase.
One per cent even took an alarm clock, music player or TV remote control.
Two polled admitted taking a TV set, while one stole a Bible.
A website spokesman said: “Many people don’t consider taking from hotels as theft but taking anything that doesn’t belong to you is stealing.”
