Rethymno Hoteliers head | The upcoming tourist season is predicted to be "quite good"

The upcoming tourist season is expected to be “quite good”, according to the president of the Rethymno Hoteliers Association, Manolis Tsakalakis. He said this during his welcome at the New Year’s cake-cutting ceremony of the Association, which took place on Friday, 03/02/2025, at the Prima Plora restaurant with the presence of its members, hotel executives, and authorities, in a warm and pleasant atmosphere.

Mr. Tsakalakis also referred to the great contribution of tourism to the country’s economy, the key participation of employees in the smooth operation of hotel units, and the excellent image of the place. Concluding his short speech, he recommended prudent and harmonious cooperation between tourism businesses and the local authorities.

The Mayor of Rethymno, Mr. Marinakis, spoke about the contribution of tourism to the economy and the prosperity of the place. He emphasized the practical support of the Municipality to hoteliers, but also to all citizens.

The evening was honored with their presence by His Eminence Metropolitan of Rethymno, Mr. Prodromos, the Mayor of Rethymno, Mr. Marinakis, Mr. Stratakis from the Heraklion National Tourist Organization, the Police Director, Mr. Chinopoulos, the former Police Director, Mr. Papadakis, the Security Director, Mr. Papadakis, the Harbormaster, Mr. Kastrinakis, the Fire Department Director, Mr. Zanidakis, the President of the Chamber Mr. Giakoumakis, the Empowered Tourism Advisor of the Municipality of Rethymno Mr. Gasparakis, the new presidency of the Federation of Rented Rooms, members of the Board of Directors of the Hotel Associations of Heraklion and Chania and other official guests.

His Eminence Mr. Prodromos blessed the cutting, wished health and success to everyone, and stated characteristically that with the “undivided love of the citizen, the Metropolitan and the cosmopolitan hotelier, the high goals of hosting visitors and the development of the city are achieved”.

The Hoteliers Association of N. Rethymno warmly thanks the sponsors of this evening, specifically: The Grecotel group for providing free accommodation for two people, the Aegean Airlines company for donating two plane tickets, and the Jo An Palace Hotel for providing accommodation for the members of the Board of Directors of the Heraklion and Chania Associations who attended the cake cutting.
