High RevPAR performance for Greek hotels in March

Greek hotels are among the top three European markets with the highest performance in revenue per available room (RevPAR) in March, according to HSMAI Europe data. The other two countries with similarly high hotel performance are Latvia and Hungary (table).

Disparities by hotel category

The picture for European hotels overall is diversified, with significant losses in the budget and economy hotel categories (RevPAR -10.2% and -2.4% respectively), due to the reduced mobility of domestic customers. The midscale also moved slightly downward (-0.5%), while the upscale category was the only one to maintain a positive trend (+0.9%), mainly thanks to the presence of international customers.

Southern & Eastern Europe vs Northwest

The regional comparison shows that Eastern and Southern Europe continue to strengthen, with Greece confirming the momentum of the wider Mediterranean South. In contrast, Northwest Europe continues to lag behind, with the worst performers recorded in France (-4.3%), the Netherlands (-3.7%), and the Czech Republic (-13.4%).

  • These figures come from HSMAI Europe (Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International), a leading body in the field of professional development and commercial strategies for the tourism industry in Europe.
