Heraklion: Request to hotels to host Cypriot dignitaries

Representatives from the Presidency of the Republic of Cyprus, the Cyprus Ministry of Tourism, as well as tour operators and journalists, will visit Heraklion on the occasion of the first flight of the new Cyprus Airways route, Larnaca – Heraklion, which begins on December 19.

Their aim is to get in touch with local bodies in Heraklion and discuss the prospects created by this new air connection.

In this context, the Heraklion Hotel Association is requesting hotels to make 15-20 rooms available for 3 nights for the period December 19-22, in order to host the representatives of the Cypriot bodies and journalists. “We believe that it will be a very good move to stimulate our tourism market,” the Association points out.

Cyprus Airways announced the launch of direct flights connecting Heraklion with Larnaca from next December, every Monday and Friday.

The details of the new route are as follows:

Route: Heraklion (HER) – Larnaca (LCA)

Frequency: twice a week

Monday at 21:30

Friday at 10:00 (local time)

Start: December 19, 2025

This addition comes at a time when Nikos Kazantzakis Airport is recording a continuous increase in passenger traffic. In July 2025 alone, 1,693,791 passengers were served, a number increased by 4.7% compared to the same month last year, confirming the pivotal role of Heraklion in Crete’s air transport.

Cyprus Airways, with its choice, is not limited to the peak tourist season, but is investing in a connection with value for the whole year, further strengthening the Crete – Cyprus relationship.
