The Mitsis Group’s “Story of Change”: A report that reshapes the landscape of sustainable hospitality

Greece’s largest hotel group presents the program “A Story of Change” – Supporting local communities, culture and the environment at its core.

The Mitsis Group has published its 2024 Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility Report, outlining an integrated sustainability strategy with more than 150 annual initiatives across the destinations where it operates. The program, titled “A Story of Change,” aims to create a positive impact for local communities as well as for the country’s natural and cultural environment.

The sustainability strategy is structured around five thematic pillars, which now form a cornerstone of the Group’s operational model.

Support for local communities
The Mitsis Group creates more than 5,000 jobs, strengthens the primary sector, adopts public spaces, and supports local organizations and events, fostering social cohesion.

Showcasing Greek cultural heritage
Contributions to festivals, local arts initiatives and the promotion of Greek gastronomy form key elements of the Mitsis hotel identity.

Promoting diversity and equality
Investment in employee well-being is accompanied by the incorporation of DEI practices, aiming for a modern, inclusive workplace.

Innovation and new opportunities
The Group enhances professional development, invests in technological solutions and supports local talent.

Caring for the planet
Reducing environmental footprint, protecting biodiversity and developing green partnerships remain top priorities.

“Our commitment to sustainability is identical to our identity as a Group. We want to leave a positive impact on the destinations where we operate, investing in society and protecting the environment,” stated CEO Stavros Mitsis.

The Group has received numerous distinctions for its initiatives, including Blue Flag, Green Key, ISO 14001, ISO 22000, Travelife Gold Certification, as well as recognition as one of the “Most Sustainable Companies in Greece.” Last year’s Report was awarded at the Bravo Sustainability Dialogue & Awards 2025.

With 24 hotels and 14 spa and thalassotherapy centers in leading Greek destinations, Mitsis remains one of the most active groups in sustainable tourism development and is also certified by Great Place to Work®.
