Giannis Hatzis intervention on malfunctioning road network: “Customers and employees are not to blame.”

With a clear message of responsibility and the need for an immediate solution, the President of the Hellenic Hoteliers Federation (POX), Giannis Hatzis, issues an intervention highlighting the serious impact caused by the malfunctioning of the road network on citizens and businesses, at a time of increased travel and operational pressure for the tourism sector.

Through a public statement, the President of POX stresses the need for the immediate restoration of smooth and safe traffic flow on the road network, in order to put an end to the severe inconvenience faced by citizens and to limit the financial damage suffered by hospitality businesses.

At this point, it should be emphasized that, as he notes, “the only ones who are certainly not to blame are our customers, our members, and our employees,” clearly conveying the concern of a sector that is confronted with consequences it did not cause, yet is called upon to manage.

At the same time, the President of POX calls for a solution to be found by the end of the day so that smooth and safe traffic circulation can be restored, underscoring that prolonged uncertainty intensifies both social discontent and the economic bleeding of tourism businesses.

Meanwhile, Mr. Hatzis’ intervention takes on a broader institutional dimension, concluding with a clear message of responsibility: “at some point, we must all take responsibility for what falls within our remit.” A concise phrase, without embellishment, which, beyond day-to-day crisis management, directly raises the issue of accountability and the effective functioning of the state.

At the same time, the statement by the President of POX serves as a reminder that tourism does not operate in a vacuum. It depends on basic infrastructure, on the safety of transportation, and on the system’s ability to respond immediately when things do not go as they should. And it is precisely in this area that, at this moment, much more is at stake than a simple traffic regulation.
